Frances Toobert

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at 
Willamette Oaks Retirement Center in Eugene Frances G. Toobert of 
Eugene, who died May 4 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at age 
82.

She was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Glaremore, Okla., to Charles and Sally 
Long-McGinnis Gillespie. She married Saul Toobert on Oct. 25, 1964, 
in Salem. Under her professional name, Frances Scott, she worked as 
professor and director of the Center for Gerontology at the 
University of Oregon.

Survivors include her husband; a stepdaughter, Deborah Toobert; and a 
stepson, Michael.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in 
Eugene. Arrangements by Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield. 
Remembrances to Oregon Natural Resources Council or the Nature 
Conservancy.
