All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Spavinaw/Strang Cemetery--Spavinaw OK The Grove Sun Daily James Douglas "Doug" Tucker Sr. 1936-2005 SPAVINAW, Okla. - James Douglas "Doug" Tucker Sr., 68, of Spavinaw, passed away Thursday, April 21 following an extended illness. Tucker was born September 8, 1936 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Ardyce Vance Tucker and Dorothy (Donelson) Tucker. He attended Oklahoma Military Academy and was a graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. He was a Boiler Maker and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union Local #592 in Tulsa, and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers #83 in Kansas City, Missouri. He loved sports and was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and writing. Tucker was united in marriage to Florence Valk on July 6, 1976 in Miami, Oklahoma. They have made their home in Spavinaw for the last 29 years. Surviving family members include his wife, Florence, of the home; three daughters, Vicki Walkup of Tulsa, Cynthia Tucker-Brooks and husband Charles of Oklahoma City, and Tamara Harner and husband Mike of Grove, Oklahoma; two sons, James Douglas Tucker Jr. and wife Regina of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Steven Eric Tucker of Wagoner, Oklahoma; one stepson, Orval Dean "Spunky" Wiley of Claremore, Oklahoma; one brother, Donel Tucker of Collinsville, Oklahoma; and fourteen grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25 at the Faith Mission Church in Jay, Oklahoma, with Rev. Chester Crittenden officiating. Internment followed at Spavinaw/Strang Cemetery.
