Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Billie passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at her home, just weeks before her 85th birthday. Born Sept. 27, 1917 in Chouteau, she was the 11th of 12 children born to Frank and Ella Ross. Billie was reared and educated both in her birth community and in Chilocca, Okla. where she attended the Chilocca Indian School. After completing her education, she returned to Chouteau. Billie worked at the Powder Plant in Pryor for a time and it was here that she was introduced to Dee Vice. After his military service (Dee's), he returned home and the couple renewed their acquaintance. On March 6, 1948, they were married in Beaumont, Texas. Billie and Dee made their home in Texas for many years. With his work at Union Carbide, the Galveston and Texas City areas were home. It was while they were there that Billie was employed as a teacher's aide for 12 years. After both retired, they moved to Dayton, Texas. In 1989, the couple moved to Claremore. With their work years behind them, Billie and Dee enjoyed traveling and some of their trips were undertaken on the spur of a moment. Billie loved these trips and was extremely suited to investigating new locales and meeting new people. She also was comfortable and content at home in the company of a good book. A loving, warm and friendly individual, Billie is survived by many friends as well as her loving family, which includes her husband, Dee of their home on Claremore; son, Dwain Vice and wife Judy of Grove; grandson Vance Vice and wife Kerry, of Normal, Ill; great-granddaughter Savannah Vice, also of Normal; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
