Wells Funeral service for Lela V. Wells will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002 at Willeo Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Dark officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Lela died Friday, May 17 at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 90. The daughter of Clayton Thomas and Bessie Dunlap Beard was born Feb. 17, 1912 in Tahoka, Texas. Lela moved to Oklahoma from Arkansas at the age of 10. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa. Lela met Lyle Raymond at the "A Bar A" Dude Ranch where she was a secretary and he was a ranch foreman. They were married on Dec. 6, 1952 in the Baptist Church in Claremore. Lela and Lyle established the Tiawah Hills Guest Ranch, which they operated for 14 years; and also operated their ranch until 1994. Lela worked as a secretary for the Oklahoma Agricultural Service. She was a member of Willeo Baptist Church. Lela is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle. She is survived by her son, Dick and wife Lisa York; and grandchildren, Thuy and Lisa York of San Francisco.
