The members frequently used the American Legion Building for their meetings, pie suppers, and square dances. Needing a large area for their rodeo activities, the former Maud Park was considered and the City of Maud agreed to lease the land to the Roundup Club for a 99 year term fro the price of $1. One of the members, Ray Uhlich, who worked for the railroad, furnished railroad ties for the fences around the arena. Other charter members included John, Delbert, and Bob McGuire, Claud and Bill Harris, Bill and Kenneth Miler, Jack Howard, Ray and Curtis O'Daniel, Hice Hill, Ernest Brown, Albert Guinn, Paul Ledbetter, Melvin Lang, Earnest Campbell, Elmo VanMeter, Hurshel, Kay, Don, Claud amd Jack Goss, Jack Young, Jim, Tony and Jim Villines, and Otis Brucher. In the mid 1970's the club members began replacing the old arena fencing with pipe fencing led by Paul Lucy, Barry O'Daniel, and Wimp Brock. The north side was completed at that time, but it wasn't til the early 1980's that the south side was finished. Each year the rodeo provided entertainment for the entire community as top stock and cowboys met in Maud during the month of July. The concession stand was completely remodeled in 1992 and new arena lights were installed in 1993. Grilled hamburgers provide an additional treat for the hungry fans each year thanks to the 'grillers', Gary Adams, Keith Jennings, Harold Swarb, and any other unsuspecting prospective cook that may lend a hand for a night or two. Present active board members include Buck Day, Neal Guinn, Melvin Long, and Mike Peters. Current Roundup Club Officers are President Paul Lucy, Vice President Barry O'Daniel and Secretary Keith Jennings. Local folks recall that an added attraction to the rodeo excitement was the fact that club members also served as master of ceremonies for the rodeo. Ray O'Daniel was an erly day announcer for the rodeo followed by Melvin Long. Both will be long remembered as they not only announced the events, but they added a little of their own enter- tainment to the evening by way of songs, jokes and other personal additions to their monologues. On way or the other the crowd was always assured to get their money's worth from the Maud Roundup Club. The Maud RoundUp Club takes pride in being the oldest, still active club. It is renown for its endeavors to support the community and school activities.
