REVEREND WILLIAM E. BARKER APRIL 5, 1918 - NOV. 5, 2006 Reverend William E. Barker, 88, of Oakdale, passed away in an Oakdale hospital on Sunday, November 5, 2006. He was born April 5, 1918 in Marble City, OK and grew up in Arkansas. He began a career in the ministry at the age of 17 and over the years Pastored in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho with the Pentecostal Church of God. He also worked as a Baker for many years. He married Lorene Thomas in Oklahoma in 1940. Survivors include his children, James E. Barker of McKinleyville, CA, Jerry L. Barker of Stockton, Carl D. Barker of Ceres, CA, Claudiene Lancaster of Oakdale, Rev. Orvel C. Barker of Tracy, CA, and Brenda L. Scott of Fayetteville, AR, 24 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, brother, Clarron Barker of Oklahoma, and a sister Beatrice Scott of Ft. Bragg, CA. His daughter, Joyce L. Beggie precedes him in death. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Evergreen Chapel of Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
