All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Memorial Park--Bakersfield CA Edwards, Mattie Viola Mattie Viola Edwards Dec. 15, 1904 - July 8, 2007 Graveside services for Mattie will be held, Thursday, July 12th, 11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Pastor Milt Cole will officiate. Mattie Viola Edwards was born December 15, 1904 to Frank and Malinda Richardson in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. As a young child Mattie moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma where she lived until 1943. Mattie was one of seven children. Her parents were farmers in Oklahoma. Mattie worked in restaurants until her marriage in 1930 to Charley Edwards of Sallisaw, OK. In 1943 they moved to Bakersfield, California with their five children. Mattie was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her garden both flower and vegetables. She shared her canned foods with family and friends. Mattie had a great sense of humor, enjoyed her family and many friends. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Charley, of 57 years, in 1987; two granddaughters; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Maudie Harka of Fairfield, California; daughter, Charlene Woods of Strathmore, California; four sons, Billy Joe Edwards of Bakersfield, CA, Earby Edwards, of Bakersfield, CA, Haskell Edwards of Minden, Nevada and Harlan Edwards of Springville, CA; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great- grandchildren. Mattie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
