All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Elvira Gillet September 18, 1928-October 23, 2002 Services for Elvira will be held Monday, October 28, 1 p.m. at Calvary Holiness Church, 501 Main Street, Delano. Elvira was born in Gans, Oklahoma, to Walter and Nancy Jones. She met Bill, the love of her life and they were married on November 2, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1954, they made Kern County their home. Her devotion to her husband, children and family were her lifes work. She had a great love for music and was very proud of the musical abilities of her children, and these were her and Bills most joyous times. She loved traveling with Bill and their dog, Tim. Her Christian faith sustained her through the joys and sorrows of her life. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald and her daughter, Joann McFarland. She leaves behind Bill, her loving husband of 56 years; nine children: Mary Pohlemann, Margaret Teague, Wayne, Phillip and Jimmy Gillet, Patricia Climer, Diane Matthews, Molly Scatena and Evelyn Holt; 37 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two brothers, Euell and J.C. Jones; one sister, Vivian Honea and a large extended family. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 26, 2-5 p.m. at Parkview Mortuary, 315 So.
