All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 30 Aug 1997 Roy Burl McKissick SKELLYTOWN - Roy Burl McKissick, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Joe McKissick of Abilene Christian University officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. McKissick was born in Sallisaw, Okla. He had been a resident of Skellytown since 1946. He worked in area oil fields for the Dansinger Co., British American Co. and contracted pumping until retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of World War II, participating in the European Theater. He was a staff sergeant and won the Bronze Star. Mr. McKissick was active in many civic organizations, including the Lions Club, Optimist Club and area senior citizens clubs as well as the local fire department. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Mary Ellen Hill in 1942 at Haskell, Okla. She died in 1991. He also was preceded in death by a stillborn son in 1947. Survivors include two sons, Guy McKissick of Skellytown and Ted McKissick of Belton; two daughters, Karen Utzmen of Langhorne, Pa., and Donna Hitt of Herndon, Va.; a sister, Mary McKissick of Morris, Okla.; four brothers, Marvin McKissick of Tulsa, Okla., Bob McKissick of Atwater, Calif., Bill McKissick of Athens and Joe McKissick of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
