All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::South Kern District Cemetery--Arvin CA The Bakersfield Californian 20 March 2005 Lucille Villa Straw 5/18/1921 2/21/2005 Born May 18, 1921 in Long, Oklahoma, to Pleasant and W.A. Lum Maxwell. She moved to Arvin in 1935 and remained a resident for 69 years. She attended Bakersfield High School and then married Toy E. Straw in 1937. They remained married for 52 years until his death in 1990. They had one child, their daughter, Betty. On January 1, 2004, Lucille moved to Eagle River, Alaska to live with her daughter and grandson. She died on February 21, 2005, at home with her family by her side from complications resulting from Alzheimers Disease. Lucille was a dedicated homemaker and expert seamstress. She enjoyed crafts of all sorts as well as family activities and traveling. She will always be remembered as a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Toy, parents, Pleasant and Lum Maxwell, and sister, Wanda Jackson, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Straw-Amos of Alaska; her granddaughter and her husband, Kelly and Barry of California; grandson, Casey of Alaska and her great-grandsons, Jason, Brian and Kevin of CA. Graveside services were held for her on February 24, 2005, at the South Kern District Cemetery in Arvin The service was officiated by Lucilles cousin, Bill Davies.
