All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunrise Cemetery--Fortuna CA Shamblin, William Alfred "Bill" Services will be held Wednesday for Bill Shamblin, who passed away February 2, 2007, in Eureka at the age of 85. He was a resident of Eureka. Born May 12, 1921, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, Bill came to California in 1946 where he worked in construction and as maintenance foreman for the City of Fresno until moving to Humboldt County and Fortuna in 1955. He went to work for the City of Fortuna as Assistant Superintendent of maintenance. Bill was involved in ranching as a caretaker and owner for 22 years. He worked for Pierson’s Building Center in Eureka from 1975-1980 as Department Manager in the decorator department. In 1984 Bill became manager of a Mobilehome Park in Eureka. Bill was loved for his honesty, wisdom and sense of humor. He enjoyed his many work projects and gardening was his pride. He is survived by his loving wife, Earlene; children, Wes, Marrille, Doyle, Dave, Mike, Ron, Ken and Kathy; grandchildren, Fred, Betty, Bobbie, April, Ken, Les, David, Cory, Katy, Stacy, Steve, Matt and Greg. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, adopted grandchildren, numerous other family members and his ex-wife, Betty. Bill also leaves behind many friends and acquaintances in all walks of life. He was preceded in death by is parents, Henry and Allie Shamblin; step brothers, Oscar, Herman and Elmer; and sisters, Ruby and Opal. Friends are invited to attend services Wednesday February 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary, INC, 560 12th Street, Fortuna. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Fortuna. A reception will follow the interment at 1930 Home Avenue, Fortuna. Casketbearers will be his grandson’s Frank, David, Cory, Steve, Matt and Greg.
