She passed away January 8, 2010 at Perryton, Texas at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 28 days. Oleta grew up in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. As a young child she would cut fabric and make her own clothing without a pattern. She was married to Wilson Thomas at Sallisaw, Oklahoma on November 6, 1940. After their marriage they moved to Crawford in 1960 and Hammon in 1968 to raise their nine children. After Wilson retired in the late 80's they moved to Elk City to make their home. Oleta enjoyed gardening, sewing and making clothing for her children, but her passion was having her entire family home for the holiday and cook for them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 3 brothers. She is survived by 9 children, Joyce Coym and husband, Jim, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Wayne Thomas, Sweetwater, Oklahoma, Don Thomas and wife, Kathy, Reydon, Oklahoma, Charles Thomas, Amarillo, Oklahoma, Linda Kile and husband, Richard, Perryton, Oklahoma, Mildred Nesser and husband, Ron, Elk City, Oklahoma, Larry Thomas, Sayre, Oklahoma, Rick Thomas and wife, Katrina, Elk City, Oklahoma, Diana Deal and husband, Gary, Elk City, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held January 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Chapel officiated by Brother Gary Baird. Burial followed at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
