Eric R. Murray was elevated from vice president to second vice president 25 Years Ago: Don E. Shultz, husband of the former Margaret Putman of Duncan, daughter of D.M. Putman, was conferred with the degree of doctor of philosophy in the school of Communication Arts and Sciences, Mass Media, at Michigan State University in Lansing, Mich. 10 Years Ago: Horace Mann Elementary principal Irene Seay and Driving for Education school coordinator Debbie McCoy accepted two complete computer centers from Mark O'Dell and Tom Sparks of Ridley Champion Autoplex. Five Years Ago: Members of four area clubs planted three rosebud trees in memory of the victims and survivors of the Murrah Federal Building explosion in Oklahoma City and to honor those who served in the search and rescue efforts following the bombing. One Year Ago: In a week, prices locally had risen, on the average, 16 cents for regular unleaded gasoline. The issue affected everyone, from teachers who must commute to city budgets. State Sen.
