Arason was on of four local students competing, received an excellent rating. 25 Years Ago: How do you set a sundial ahead an hour? That question was puzzling four- year-old Katie Lamm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Lamm. Sundials are the only timepieces that change automatically. All other clocks have to be set ahead an hour for the beginning of Daylight Savings Time to insure getting to school and work on time. 10 Years Ago: Numerous agencies and organizations planned to have informational booths set up at the annual Earth Day Fair in Fuqua Park. The speakers for the event were Mayor Wayne Holden, local legislators Larry Lawler and Ed Apple, and Smokey Pierce. Five Years Ago: After a month-long environmental unit, the Woodrow Wilson fourth grade students planted a 12-foot Lacebark Elm tree on the school grounds. Kristi Stewart's class each brought money and recycled aluminum cans to help pay for the cost of the tree and each dollar raised was matched by Principal Nancy Allen. One Year Ago: Power Shop employees Dixie Shockley and Randy Johnson enjoyed Sundae Monday at the Power Shop.
