Jeannet was a winner of the Alliance Française contest for outstanding achievement in study of modern languages. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma. 25 Years Ago: Stephens County was among 17 Oklahoma counties that Gov. David Boren had asked for presidential declaration as disaster areas because of tornadoes and floods. Garvin, Cotton and Love Counties in the area were also on the list submitted by Boren in his preliminary request. 10 Years Ago: Carleen Jones and Carroll Johnston presented a skit at the Senior Adults luncheon at First Baptist Church. Their play was about things early day Duncanites might have talked about. Five Years Ago: Just because school is out for the summer doesn’t mean teachers and administrators stop working. Some teachers work through the summer on various projects ranging from school-related work to other jobs. Dr. Martha Burger, principal of Plato Elementary, met with her staff to discuss plans for the next school year, trade ideas and finish up old business.
