Mrs. Jenkins credited Sen. Wayne Holden and Rep. Bob Wilson with securing the funds for the local museum which was to be moved to the old National Guard Armory in Fuqua Park. 10 Years Ago: Duncan High School wrestling coach John Strickland, who served as golf coach at Duncan Middle School before taking over the mat program at DHS, hosted a youth golf clinic at the Halliburton Recreation Area for kids ages 6-15 years. Five Years Ago: Horace Mann Elementary Principal Dr. Irene Seay was named Oklahoma’s National Distinguished Principal for 1997 by the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Seay was nominated and selected by her fellow principals.
