Gentry of Kendrick & King and Lumber Company was installed as president of the Duncan Rotary Club. He succeeded Ray L. Rice, who automatically became vice president. Roy V. Harp, pastor of the First Christian Church, served as installing officer. 25 Years Ago: Bluegrass music was just one of the treats in store for people who attended the Chisholm Trail Arts Festival. Members of the “Oklahoma Bluegrassettes”, Robin, 12, Diane, 15, Hickman, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hickman, Noelle, 11, and Traci 13, Burch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Burch performed twice during the day. 10 Years Ago: Lee Robertson of Duncan received a birthday card from President and Mrs. George Bush honoring his 100th birthday. Five Years Ago: Earl Weisner, a conservationist with the Stephens County Conservation District, talked of the benefits of using inmate labor to maintain county watershed projects with Dean Caldwell, unit manger of the Walters Community Work Center, state Rep. Jari Askins and Ray McCarter and Conservation District Manager Robbie Bowles. One Year Ago: Two-year-old Chase Elliot got a lift from firefighter Bill Bernard for a closer look at a fire truck at Billingsley Ford. Fire, police and emergency medical personnel were on hand for an open house to promote safety.
