The tank was part of the $650,000, worth of renovations which were being done at the plant. The renovations were being done by Squaw Valley Construction Co. of Altus and included the construction of sludge ponds and repairs and additions to the plant itself. 10 Years Ago: Kent and Debbie Careathers, and their daughter Julie, cut the ribbon officially opening their store, Young at Heart, a new pre-teen and junior clothing shop at Ward Mall. Five Years Ago: Stephani Owen of the United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma danced a Scottish sword dance during a presentation at the Duncan Public Library. Ms. Owen, along with dancer MacMurphy Bundrick and bagpiper Ken Bristow, displayed Scottish traditions and items as part of the program. One Year Ago: It took almost $3 million, but the 4-D. Corp., tire recycling company had reopened after a large blaze totaled the 4-D plant. Max Daughtrey, who owns the company with his brother, Tommy, said there was never any doubt that they would rebuild the recycling plant. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Stephens County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/stephens/stephens.htm
