LEFTIWCH, the grocer Insurance at GEORGE H. BORDNER. Killed Wild Cats MRS. S. A. KEELER, who resides near Apache, is the champion wild cat bagger in Oklahoma. Recently these pestiferous animals have caused a good deal of uneasiness in the community and MRS. KEELER resolved upon making away with a few of them. The first time she went out and caught one in a steel trap and killed it, then next time she shot one dead in its tracks with a shotgun. The hides of both have been placed on exhibition and Mrs. Keeler is receiving the plaudits of her friends for her skill and success. Printed in the Lawton Republican. MISS LOIS WEAKLEY is home from Coleman, Texas where she has visited her grandmother. MISSES ROSE TUCKER and OCIE CHEEK of Duncan attended the Opera House last night. >From Thursday's Daily. R. A. BOGGESS went to Ardmore on business. D. S. LIGON returned from a preaching tour in Texas. MRS. LOUI OLIPHANT of the Comanche country left Wednesday to visit relatives in Kansas. MISS TRACY, who has been visiting the family of the editor of the News for a few weeks, returned home to Rockdale, Texas. The News is pleased to acknowledge to receipt of a 50 pound watermelon from our friend, W. M. WYATT. Wanted, 20,000 hides in the next 30 days. W. E. CATTERALL of the City Market. MISS TILLIE COPELAND left this morning to visit friends in Fort Worth and Dallas. W. W. HAWHEE and daughter MISS TRESSIE went to Walters to visit another daughter who lives there. J. W. HUNT will go to Fort Worth to arrange for excursions from Dallas, Fort Worth, and immediate points to the Carnival. HON. PAT CRENSHAW, who arrived here several days from Arkansas, informs us that he has written his family to come here and he expects to make his home in Comanche. MISS AUDRY MCAFEE, who has been visiting her parents, returned to Paradise, Texas. W. J. HUDSON returned from Ryan. MRS. F. C. HALL left Sunday for Gainesville, Texas to visit relatives. J. K. RAMSEY visited friends in Ryan. J. E. WILLIAMS with the Southern Investment Co. of Ardmore left for Fort Worth Sunday. WADE ATKINS went to spend a few days on his ranch in the Texas panhandle. MRS. LEACH and daughter, MISS LALLA, returned from a visit to relatives at Jacksboro, Texas. MISS MCMANN of Altus, who has been visiting her nieces, the MISSES DERR, returned to her home Sunday. Warning Notice W. T. GREEN vs. MRS. GARNER BARTLEY-LOVE At the hour of seven Monday evening and in the home of the bride's parents, DR. J. P. BARTLEY and MISS DOLLIE LOVE were united in marriage, REV. TURNER officiating. DR. BARTLEY has been a resident of Comanche since it was a mere hamlet and is well and favorably known in both city and country, is an eminent physician and one of our most substantial citizens. MISS LOVE came here some four years ago with her parents from Texas and has since been a recognized leader of Comanche society. J. H. BRADLEY sold the Chelsea Commercial to W. C. POOLE and J. H. SHIELDS. ------------------------------------ Friday, August 3, 1906 D. A. MCNEI bought in some fine samples of corn and cotton Friday, grown by J. M. MEEKS on his new farm between here and Cornish. HARRY ANDRUS fell from the wagon this morning in such a manner, that one wheel ran over one of his legs almost breaking it. J. W. BOWMAN has the thanks of the News for a lot of fine peaches grown in his orchard. Chickasha, July 31--BEN ANDERSON killed his wife. Special officer JOHN HARTMAN lodged him the federal jail. Ardmore, July 31--MRS. CLEVELAND JOHNSON of Woodford, who received injuries while en route to this city last Saturday, died yesterday of her injuries. She fell from a wagon while it was passing over a rough piece of road and one wheel passed over her body. She was a young woman, leaves a husband and two small children. MRS. J. C. NIGH, who lives in Comanche country, brought to J. W. HUNT this morning, a mammoth cabbage grown in her garden. It weighs 28 lbs; is 2 -+ feet in circumference. J. A. WELDEN loaded a car of melons yesterday that averaged 31 -+ pounds. Gone to Rest Little GRACE, infant daughter of W. A. ISAAC, aged two years, died Wednesday evening at 5:00 after a lingering illness. It was been about 8 months since the mother was called to her reward, and now her baby girl has gone to meet her in that clime that knows no parting, no tears, no heart aches. SCANTLEN, who has an allotment one mile east of town, arrived here with his family from Choctaw country and will make this their home. MRS. WARREN JEANES of Duncan is visiting her parents. MRS. CARTER who has been visiting in Tennessee is expected home. M. E LILLEY of Duncan is here. MRS. PAUL YOUNG left for Arkansas to visit relatives. MRS. HENRY ROWLAND of Doyle is here to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. MILLER. S. G. SHACKELFORD of El Reno has secured employment here as a salesman at the Model Store. The meeting at the Branch schoolhouse continues with increased interest. R. C. MADDOX and G. S YATES are conducting it. 16 have been baptized and 14 more confessed tonight and are to be baptized this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. BEN ANGEL are in Duncan today. EWALT BOONE of Addington is here today. The little son of J. L. HOUSTON is quite sick. E. H. PATITFIL of Ryan will attend the dance tonight. MRS. GEROGE BORDNER of Comanche country is here shopping. MISSES ROSE TUCKER and OCIE CHEEK of Duncan will attend the dance tonight. FRED ANGEL and his family left for Duncan where they will make their home. MISS BERT PETITFIL of Apache is here visiting her sister, MRS. HENRY REYNOLDS. MRS. GEORGE WOODWARD has returned from visiting relatives at Iowa Park, Texas. C. W. BROWN is expected to arrive and open the Bank of Comanche for business again. MRS. A. R. TANKERSLEY will leave for Wichita Falls to visit her mother. MR. SEIVER of Alvord, Texas is here to visit his brother, A. W. SIEVER. R.A BOGGESS and E. O. SLOAN went to Loco. MRS. JOSIE SMITH of Temple is here visiting relatives. JOE DAMERON accompanied the remains of J. A. REID to Hillsboro, Texas this afternoon. W. J. BOWMAMN of Jacksboro, Texas has bought out DR. THAGARD at Woolsey and will move there. Drowned Thursday afternoon, JOE DAMERON and his brother-in-law, J. A. REID, who arrived here form Texas last Monday, were bathing in the C. C. CLARK's tank a few miles northwest of Comanche and Mr. Reid drowned. They rowed out in a boat and jumped from the boat, Mr. Dameron first then Mr. Reid, both diving. Mr. Dameron came up all right but Mr. Reid was either scared or was cramping and was unable to control himself and sank twice. Mr. Dameron did all he could to rescue him, but to no avail.
