Ackerman AITKIN, Minn. — Frances A. Ackerman, 92, of Aitkin, formerly of Aberdeen, S.D., was called to be with the Lord on Saturday morning March 8, 2003, from Riverwood Extended Health Care of Aitkin. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Faith United Methodist Church of Aberdeen with John Baskins officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Willim Northland Funeral Home of Aitkin. Frances was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Fort Pierre, S.D., to Fred and Augusta Goltz Kramer. The family moved and lived on a number of farms on the North and South Dakota borders near Havana, N.D. She went to school and graduated from Havana. Attended business college in Aberdeen, studied law and worked as a legal secretary. She was united in marriage to Russell R. Abersoll on Sept. 19, 1931, in Aberdeen. To this union were born two sons, Russell Junior (Ivy) Abersoll of Aitkin and Ronald F. (Gill) Abersoll of Duncan. Her husband, Russell R., died of cancer Sept. 25, 1943. In 1949, she married Frank J. Ackerman and had one son, Patrick F. (Gaye) Ackerman of Helena, Mont. On March 31, 1989, Frank died of a stroke. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great- great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Robert; a sister, Viola Lein; and a granddaughter, Kristie Jane Abersoll. Frances moved to Aitkin in August 1996 and resided and enjoyed Maryhill Manor making the move to Riverwood Extended Care in September 2000. She was a member of the Christian Temperance Union, Royal Neighbor Fraternity and Faith United Methodist Church of Aberdeen, being very active in UMW’s.
