"Jim" Alcorn, 69, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Family Worship Center with the Rev. Mike Linney, pastor, and the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Alcorn was born in Duncan, Okla., and was a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God High School in Waxahachie and also attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie as well. He married Vera Porter in 1959 in Crowell. They moved to Amarillo in 1977 from Wichita Falls. He taught music and owned and operated Jimmy Alcorn Recording Services. He played the organ and was a member of Family Worship Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Carl Alcorn and Arcie Wright Alcorn; and by a sister, Jeanie Vee Clattenburg; Survivors include his wife; a brother, Jerry Alcorn of Grand Prairie; a sister, Jacquelyn Guinn of Arlington; four nieces; one great-nephew; and three great-nieces. The family suggests memorials be to Family Worship Center, 11901 Interstate 27, Amarillo, TX 79119. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
