Baxter, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in Fort Worth. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Texline Church of Christ with Fred Selby, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Baxter was born Feb. 18, 1911, in Brashear, to John H. and Sarah Jane Moore Baxter. He was a 1930 graduate of Lockney High School and a longtime farmer in Lockney and Texline. The family is especially grateful to his faithful caregiver, Norma Young, and to all others who provided care for him for four years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie Ella Wyly; and three sisters, Beulah Baxter, Florence Baxter and Lena Brotherton. Survivors include a son, Victor Baxter and wife, Becca, of Fort Worth; three daughters, Patsy Fox and husband, Wayne, of Houston, Eleane Wimberly and husband, Lon, of Keller, and Floy Lancaster and husband, Gene, of Duncan, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Michele Deaton and husband, Darin, Shauna Wimberly, Daniel Baxter, Cole Baxter, Mycah Baxter, Will Fox, Amanda Fox, Ryan Lancaster, Lisa Lancaster and MaryBeth Lancaster; six great-grandchildren, Megan Deaton, Madeleane Deaton, Meredith Deaton, Natoscha Mollman, Breanne Mollman and Tanner Mollman; three brothers, Clyde Baxter of Lockney, Ernest Baxter of McKinleyville, Calif., and Horace Baxter of Chico, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
