All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Duncan Cemetery-Duncan OK Duncan Banner 04 Sep 2002 Oleta Baxter Service for Oleta Baxter, 78, of Duncan, who died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital, is pending with Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. ========= Duncan Banner 05 Sep 2002 Oleta Marie Baxter Oleta Marie Baxter, 78, a long-time Duncan resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Duncan Christian Center with James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Mrs. Baxter was born July 14, 1924, in Lindsay, to Clarence Slate and Annie Pernell Howell. As a child, she came to Duncan from Lindsay. She married Roy Owen Baxter on Feb. 14, 1972, in Wichita Falls. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1976. She was a homemaker and attended Duncan Church of God. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Beverly Slate of Duncan; five daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Grissom, Johnnie Fisher, Beatrice Kelper and Ann Hutto all of Duncan and Connie and Ron Ellison of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; three brothers, J.C. Slate, Bill Howell and Amos Howell, all of Duncan; two sisters, Arvella Ritter of Marlow and Geneva Hawkins of Duncan; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father; her mother; her step-father, Amos Howell; an infant sister, Alieen Slate; three grandchildren, Nathan Rodgers, Amber Wright and Mathew Fisher; and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Slate. Bearers will be Ronnie Hutto, Curtis Hutto, Lynn Slate, Mark Slate, Donald Baxter, Walter Baxter and Joseph Speight.
