All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Duncan Cemetery - Duncan OK Duncan Banner 27 May 2002 Lois Vincent Bryan Lois Vincent Bryan, 79, entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 25, 2002. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Church in Duncan. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home of Duncan. Mrs. Bryan was born July 28, 1922, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to Lillian and William Ross Vincent. She obtained a B.S. degree from Tampa University and moved to Hinton, where she exchanged wedding vows with Dr. George Edward Bryan in Hinton’s First Baptist Church. During World War II, they moved to rural Oklahoma, where she assisted her husband as his nurse to meet the medical needs of the people of southern Oklahoma. They moved to Duncan on Aug. 1, 1951, where he practiced medicine until his retirement in 1986. Mrs. Bryan was an integral part of her husband’s clinic, working there until his retirement. She was twice president of the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association Auxiliary, serving from 1960 to 1961 and from 1964 to 1966. She served as a member of the Duncan Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and worked as a volunteer for Christians Concerned for several years prior to a prolonged illness. She resided at Meridian Nursing Home for two years prior to her death. Throughout her life, she served her Lord and church whenever needed. Mrs. Bryan attended the First Christian Church of Duncan until illness interrupted that service. She is survived by George, her husband of 59 years; her two children, Dr. George E. Bryan II of Prescott, Ariz., and Dr. Suzanne Bryan of Duncan; her sister, Nada Hackett of Clarksville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dr. William S. Vincent of Chickasha and Wirt J. Vincent of High Springs, Fla.
