All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Ida Carroll Coughran Services: Thurs., Oct. 24, 1 p.m. Ida May Carroll Coughran was born Sept. 13, 1908 in Dixie, Oklahoma. She and her family moved to Kern County in 1949 where she resided until her passing on October 20, 2002. Ida was a member of Planz Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School and held various positions in the Womens Ministries. She loved gardening and always grew an abundance of vegetables which she shared with family and friends. Ida was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Carroll and a son Aubrey Dee Carroll who was a casualty of the Korean War. A new love by the name of George Coughran swept Ida off her feet and on July 28, 1996 they were married which brought national news coverage because of the happiness they found at the young ages of 97 and 88. She is survived by sons, Leland Carroll, Truitt Carroll and Delton Carroll, all of Bakersfield, Curtis Ray Carroll of San Lucas, CA; a daughter, Evelyn Harrington of Placentia, CA; a sister, Geneva Bontrager of Red Bluff, CA as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step children and step grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Glenwood Gardens for the wonderful care they gave to their mother. A visitation will be held at Bakersfield Family Funeral Dir. On Wed., Oct. 23 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Blue Chapel at First Assembly of God Church, 4901 Calif.
