Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Ore City Cemetery, Ore City, Texas, with the Rev. Kenn Munn of Ore City Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be today until 5 p.m. at Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan. Mr. Childress was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Lamesa, Texas, to Robert Curtis and Mary Elna Newsom Childress. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army infantry. He was an independent businessman, owner and operator of the Duncan Putt Putt. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas A&M fan and a fisherman. Survivors include two sisters, Bettie Davis of Duncan and Kathryn Webster of Granbury, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
