All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 3 Apr 2002 Ethel Cowan Service for Ethel Cowan of Velma, who died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, is pending with Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan. ========= Duncan Banner 4 Apr 2002 Ethel Beatrice Cowan Ethel Beatrice Cowan, 79, of Velma joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Mickey Cowan officiating. Burial will be in New Velma Cemetery. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Grantham Velma Chapel. Mrs. Cowan was born on Nov. 6, 1922, in Comanche to Louie C. and Jeffie Gibson Jones. She married Hugh Junior Cowan on July 6, 1944. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1988. Mrs. Cowan graduated from Fox High School in 1941. She was a homemaker. Ethel "Granny" was a servant to and beloved by all who knew her. She lived her entire life in the Velma area and the last 55 years on Passmore Hollow, just west of Velma. She was a member of Velma Assembly of God Church. Survivors include three children, Mickey Cowan of Ada, Dianna "Sissie" and Danny Cowan both of Velma; a brother, J.C. "Bud" Jones of Davis; two sisters, Mary Francis "Frankie" Presgrove of Duncan, Yvonne "Blondie" Harris of Yukon; seven grandchildren, David Cowan, Denissa Douthitt and Carrie Scates of Fayetteville, Ark., B.J. Cowan of Norman, Jo Ann Ille and Chad Cowan of Velma, Krissie Gordon of Comanche, and two very special grandchildren, Kristy and Kyle Williams of Velma; nine great-grandchildren Jacob Cowan, Hunter and Brianna Douthitt, Ethan Scates, twins, Katie and Jackson Cowan, Strait Ille, Dylan and Colt Gordon and Gracie Cowan. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Cowan in 2001. Bearers will be grandsons, David, B.J. and Chad Cowan; grand-sons-in-law, Jason Ille, Andy Gordon and Mark Scates. Honorary bearers are Mickey Pruitt, Eddie Leonhart, Terry Johnson, Norman Conditt, Rodney Eason, J.J.
