All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 16 April 1998 Samuel Edwin Carter GUYMON, Okla. - Samuel Edwin Carter, 62, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. ChrisTrent officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson- Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Carter was born in Oak Hill, Fla. He was raised in Mims, Fla., and graduated from Titusville High School. He then served in the Army for two years. He married Areitta Faye Shipman in 1967 at Marlow, Okla. In 1972, they made their home in Guymon, where Mr. Carter was employed with Phillips Petroleum. He retired in 1995 as plant operator. Mr. Carter was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Dewayne Carter. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rene' Holmes of Beaver; three sons, Michael Lance Carter of Guymon, Samuel Edwin Carter Jr. of Tacoma, Wash., and Jimmy Dean Carter of Marlow; a brother, Alfred O. Carter of Mims; and 11 grandchildren. A Sam Carter memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church building fund or the Ronald McDonald House.
