Davis Service for John L. Davis, 86, of Duncan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan. ========= Duncan Banner 22 Aug 2002 John L. Davis Jr. John L. Davis Jr., 86, a resident of Alterra Sterling House in Duncan, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002. at Duncan Regional Hospital. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Christina officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan. Mr. Davis was born May 8, 1916, in Duncan to John L. and Pearl Thurlo Davis. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1934 and then attended business school. He was employed in the tax department of Halliburton for 10 years. He retired from Green-Merrill Co. with more than 30 years of service as office manager. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and director of the Adult Sunday School and an usher for many years at First Baptist Church. His heart overflowed with pride and joy for his children and grandchildren. Survivors include Virgie Davis; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. David B. and Libby Davis of Pearland, Texas, and Mark W. Davis of Dallas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet K. Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Allison M. and John Jeffords of Duncan; a sister, Mrs. Lee (June) Hillburn of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren, Lincoln, Landon and Lexis Davis, LeJoy Dickens and her husband, Larry, and Jenna, Kathryn and Jordan Jeffords. Bearers will be Granville Ward, J.R. Hasty, John Ray Green, J.E. Cordell, Bill Lewis and Don Couch. Honorary bearers are Ed Wagnon, Jim Clary, Wayne Holden, J.P.
