Dixon AMARILLO, Texas — Homer W. Dixon, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, May 9, 2003, in Amarillo. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Terry Sparks, pastor of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, and Clyde Gene Quick, cousin, and Assembly of God minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rector Funeral Home in Amarillo. Homer was born in Alma and moved to Gainesville in 1951 from County Line. He married Laverne Schuler in 1947 in Velma and she preceded him in death in 1989. He worked as a welder for the Texas Department of Transportation for 15 years, retiring in 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Dale Martin and her husband, Nathan “N.C.”, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Nathan Christopher Martin, Laura Ann Drust, Lewis Cane Martin and Julia Lynn Padilla, all of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Nathan Martin Padilla of Amarillo.
