Dodson Jr., 74, a former resident of the Tulia area, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herb Bryant, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Lovington, N.M, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Dodson was born in Marlow, Okla. He lived in Marlow until moving to the Wayside community. He graduated from Wayside High School. He joined the Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1943. He returned to Wayside to farm. He married Ruth Marie Hardy in 1945 at Clovis, N.M. They moved to California and lived there for a short time before returning to Wayside. They later moved to Canyon. In 1988, they moved to Lovington and operated A-1 Self-Storage and Mobile Home Park. Mr. Dodson was a truck driver and truck broker. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lovington. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Dodson, in 1986. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie Dickson of Lubbock and Candace Brennan of Boone, N.C.; a son, Bill Dodson of Fort Worth; a brother, Jack Dodson of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
