She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Darrel; son, Steve of Oklahoma City; and daughters, Jan of Oklahoma City, Ginger of Evergreen, CO, and Joni Sims of Hartsdale, N.Y. She will be missed by the six grandchildren whom she adored, Alex Dodson, Cynthia and Phillip Schmidt, Cade and Bret Ray, and Katherine Sims. Born Ruth Marie Pierce, on November 21, 1931, in Stephens County, she was a lifelong Oklahoman, never living out-of state long. Ruth was intensely proud of her children and was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, even though some were scattered across the country. Ruth was a great mother, involved in everything from Little League to PTA, even working at John Marshall High School in the 1970s. An avid bridge player, she belonged to several clubs in the metro area. Ruth was an extraordinary cook and her door was always open to family, friends and neighbors looking for a good meal and lively conversation. Her favorite vacation spot for the last 25 years was Jackson, Wyo., where the children, grandchildren and assorted friends across the country would gather. Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Mayflower Congregational Church. Interment at Rose Hill will follow. DEMUTH FUNERAL HOME 1145 W.
