All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 27 Sep 2002 Billie Louise Dillon Billie Louise Dillon, 82, passed from this life on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Alterra Sterling House in Duncan. Although she had experienced failing health for a number of years, her passing was unexpected. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. John McGarey officiating and the Rev. Randy Southerland assisting. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 o'clock tonight at the funeral home. Billie was born on Feb. 26, 1920, in Duncan, to W.B. "Cotton" and Alice Jones Mitchell. Except for a time during World War II, she was a lifelong resident of Stephens County. She attended Duncan schools, graduating with the Class of 1938. After high school Billie, attended a junior college business school in Duncan and was an honor student. Secretarial work was Billie's profession throughout her working career, and she was a perfectionist at her jobs. She worked at the old Patterson Hospital in Duncan, at Duncan Public Schools as assistant high school librarian, and retired after being employed a number of years in the office of Stephens County Commissioners. She married Elmer Ray Dillon on Nov. 15, 1941, in the minister's parsonage at County Line. They were blessed to be lifelong sweethearts and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past November. Her husband Ray survives her. Billie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Duncan and of its women's circles. She was the oldest of eight children born to Cotton and Alice. Two brothers, Pat Mitchell and Donald Ray Mitchell, preceded her in death. Surviving brothers and sisters are Imogene Dove, Lela Hatch and her husband Herman, Juanita Dewey and her husband Bill, Bob "Hershell" Mitchell and his wife Harriet, all of Duncan; and Robert Mitchell and his wife Charlene, of Eufaula. Although Billie and Ray had no children of their own, she is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Bearers will be Bob Jantz, Ed Edmondson, Odell Hooper, Irby Wagnon, Steve Jantz and Gene Kelly. Honorary bearers are Donald Rice, Roy Lott, Leland Crissman, B.H. McClendon, Carroll King, Carter Knox, Mickey Rowell, John Eubanks, Rusty England, Larry Presgrove, Russell Presgrove and Jerry Emerson.
