All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 26 May 2002 Clara Belle Pollard Dillon Clara Belle Pollard Dillon, 91, a longtime resident of Duncan, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in Richardson, Texas. Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Duncan, with the Rev. Jody Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home of Duncan. She was born March 24, 1911, near Pauls Valley, to Roy and Lillie Ira Belle Belvin Pollard. Her mother died at her birth, her twin brother shortly after, and her father in the following year. She was raised by her grandfather, uncle and aunt. She graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1930. She attended business college and, in 1935, married Otis Dillon, who preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Dillon is survived by one son, Doug Dillon, and his wife Marie, of Richardson; two grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Nan Dillon of Garland, Texas, and Greg and Paula Dillon Hansen of Plano, Texas; three great-grandsons, Ryan, Josh and Nick Hansen of Plano; and two brothers-in- law, Ray Dillon and his wife, Billie, and C.W. “Doc” Dillon, all of Duncan. Clara Belle worked for J. C. Penney’s, and she was a riveter in the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, Seattle, Wash., during World War II. She worked for Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company, Duncan, as the engineering librarian for 25 years, before her retirement. Clara Belle was a member of First Baptist Church, Duncan. Prior to moving to Richardson in February 2001, she was active in the Duncan Garden Club, the Duncan Book Club and Christian Women’s Club. She also enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She was a resident of Duncan for 62 years, before moving to Richardson. Bearers will be Bob Hershell Mitchell, Jim Huffman, Bob Diggs Brown, Bill Dewey, J.L.
