Cleo Maurie Evans

MINERAL WELLS - Cleo Maurie Evans, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Plainview Memorial 
Park with the Rev. Phillip Jones, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in 
Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of 

Plainview.
Mrs. Evans was born in Carnegie, Okla., and lived in Plainview for 60 
years before moving to Mineral Wells in 1995. She had been a resident of 
Crazy Water Retirement Center, later moving to Mineral Wells Care Center, 
where she was voted Resident of the Month in May. She was a member of 
First Baptist Church.

She married Melvin Mitchell Evans in 1927 at Duncan, Okla. He died in 
1989. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Evans and a daughter, 
Billie Jean Evans.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Evans of Possum Kingdom; four brothers and 
sisters, Willie Meredith and Opal Justice, both of Marlow, Okla., J.W. 
Himes of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mildred Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 
four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren.
