Golson Jr. MUSKOGEE — T.J. Golson Jr., 81, of Muskogee died Wednesday evening, March 19, 2003, in Muskogee Regional Medical Center. Service was to be at 12:30 p.m. today in the Muskogee Church of Christ. Burial was to be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee. T.J. was born Oct. 3, 1921, in Loco, to Thea and Myrtle Golson. He was the youngest of seven children. After graduating from Loco High School in 1940, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country in World War II. While visiting a sick child in the hospital, he met the love of his life, Vauda Van Hall, in Marlow. They were married June 29, 1946, and were happily married for more than 56 years. He retired from Getty Oil Company after 30 years of service which let him reside in such places as Velma, Madison, Kan., Eldorado, Kan., Cunningham, Kan., and Cushing. He moved to Muskogee in 1983 to retire closer to his family. T.J. enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader for more than 15 years, coaching girls little league basketball and teaching numerous Sunday School classes. He served as an elder in the Church of Christ for many years. He was an active member and leader of the Muskogee Church of Christ. He lived a happy full life loving God, church, young people, family and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of the home; a sister, Nell Davidsson of Dallas, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vauda Nell and Mickey Cowan of Ada and Janice and John Watson of Muskogee; four grandchildren, B.J. Cowan and his wife, Stephanie, of Norman, Becky Schiller and her husband, Chris, Barry Watson and his wife, Kelly, and Chelsi Watson, all of Muskogee; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Cowan, Katie Cowan and Watson Schiller; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arch Golson, Cliff Golson and Burl Golson; and a sister, Jewell LaBleu. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of T.J.
