All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Duncan Cemetery--Duncan OK Duncan Banner 1 Oct 2002 Iris Groff Iris Groff, 92, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Baylor Grapevine Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Duncan Cemetery with Father Dwight Helt of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Martin Thompson Funeral Home of Grapevine. Mrs. Groff was born March 2, 1910, at Owens Prairie, east of Duncan, to Early E. and Hattie B. Harrell. She married Otto L. Groff on March 22, 1927, and he preceded her in death. Iris worked for Halliburton Corporation during World War II and was in the grocery store business for several years. In 1959, Iris and Otto moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and operated Menaul Terrace Mobile Home Park. They were also co-owners of Uncle Cliff’s Kiddie Land. She enjoyed gardening and had many beautiful rock and cactus gardens. Iris delighted in her grandson, John, and shared many happy years being able to participate in his life and was influential in many ways. She attended church with her family at St. Vincent’s Episcopal in Hurst, Texas. Survivors include a daughter, Darla Groff Christiansen and her husband, David, of Southlake, Texas; a grandson, John David Christiansen and his wife, Elizabeth Lorraine, of Elkridge, Md.; a sister, Hazel Davis of Duncan; and a host of nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Wesley Harrell; and a sister, Olga Outlaw. Honorary bearers are John David Christiansen, David Royce Christiansen, Jerry D.
