He was born in Yorktown to Enrst and Rosina Wanier Gras. He served in the U.S. Army as an officer in the Field Artillery and Corp of Engineers in the European Theater of Operations during the Battle of the Bulge. He attended Texas A&M College where he was a member of the Corps and the Aggie Band. He married Eva Crowder on April 13 1947 in the Little Chapel of the Woods at Texas Woman's University in Denton TX. He retired from Halliburton Oil Well Services in 1997 after 50 years . He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include a sister Dora Sauermilch of Houston, a sister-in-law and her husband Carmen and Earl Koile of Austin Tx, nieces, Gail Riedesel, Lynn Janssen, Page Graves and nephews John Hohn and Peter Sauermilch. He was preceded in death by sisters Bertha Adiz and Lotty Hohn Nau and brother Joseph Gras. Funeral services were held in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Reese of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Duncan Cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------------------
