All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *========================================================================* Duncan Banner 18 Feb 2003 Albert Melvin Graham Albert Melvin Graham, 87, of Duncan, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Duncan. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jack Robbins officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Albert was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Stratford, to Edgar Thomas and Beulah Odom Graham. He moved to Duncan with his parents in 1930 and became a lifelong resident. He married Dorothy Strickland on July 15, 1947, in Decatur, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1986. Mr. Graham was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Navy. He was a butcher by trade, employed by Dewey Meazell Grocery and Meat Market on south Ninth Street for 17 years, and also worked at Floyd Barnes Market. He later owned and operated a Shamrock Service Station on 11th Street for 10 years, before retiring. His favorite hobby was fishing, but he also enjoyed dominoes and card games with friends and family. He was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Melvin Jan Graham of Duncan; a daughter and son- in-law, Patricia and Roy McWhirter of Duncan; four brothers, Clinton Graham, E.T. Graham and Wayne Graham, all of Duncan, and Donald Ray Graham of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Barbara Pennington, Pauline Seitz, Virginia Carpenter and Kathryn Paramore, all of Duncan; four grandchildren, Chris Graham, Brian Graham and Patty Duncan, all of Duncan, and Becky Mahaffey of Marlow; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Karl Graham.
