All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Bakersfield Californian 25 March 2004 BILL DON HOBBS "BILLY" 11/9/1931 - 3/23/2004 A memorial service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Bill Hobbs, age 72, at 11:30 a.m., at the First Nazarene Church, 2801 Hughes Lane, Bakersfield. Pastor L. Wayne Quinn will officiate. Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home-Shafter on Saturday, March 27, from 4-8 p.m.. and Sunday, March 28, from 9 ap.m. - 8 p.m. Bill was born in Duncan, Oklahoma to Jesse and Lillian Hobbs. He came to Kern County as a young boy and attended Beardsley School, graduating from Bakersfield High School. Bill served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Mona Beal on February 22, 1958, and was employed by Kern High School District as a Bus Driver for 26 years. Bill was a fan of BC's "Renegade" football team and was often a spectator supporting the team. Bill enjoyed retirement and could often be found doing yard work or puttering around in the garage. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lillian; stepdad, Herman Dunn; 2 brothers, Jim Hobbs, Connie Hobbs; sister, Juanita Hobbs. He is survived by his wife, Mona; son, Mike and wife, Cheryl Hobbs; daughter, Teresa and husband, Ben Crank; brother, Chuck and wife, Minetta Hobbs all of Bakersfield, Vernon and wife, Mary Hobbs of Chandler, AZ; sisters, Nelda and husband, Danny Machado, Nena Kudron and Ruth Neal all of Ventura; 4 grandchildren, Kayla, Joshua, Shelly and Julie; 2 great grandchildren, Abby and Matt. At the family's request donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice in Bill's name.
