Hines, Jr. John Comer HINES, Jr., 94 of Davis died Jan. 11, 2003, at Norman Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Jan. 13 at Krien Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Virgil R. TROUT and the Rev. John JOUGHIN officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. HINES was born August 1, 1908, in Goree, Texas, to John C. and Emily Fanon (NORVELL) HINES. He moved to Oklahoma with his family at an early age and grew up in the Duncan and Waurika areas. He held numerous jobs during his life, but the one he talked about most was his position as field director for the American Red Cross. Working for the Red Cross took Hines to many foreign countries, including Iceland, Turkey, England and other places in Europe. It was in England during the summer of 1960 that he met Jewel Graham BLYTHE, and they were married in Duncan in December of that year. They enjoyed 40 years together of travel, recreation and ranching before she died in May 2000. HINES never met a stranger and loved making friends and talking about the 'good old days.' He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis, Master Mason in Tyre Masonic Lodge No. 42 of Davis, 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite in Guthrie and a Shriner in the Mosla Temple in Dallas, a mamber of AA! RP and a past president of the Davis Kiwanias Club." He is survived by: a daughter, Betty; five grand children, Sandy, Linda, Debra, Denise, and Michael; "nine great-grandchildren, and two nieces. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
