Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan with the Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Interment was at New Velma Cemetery. He was born on Sept. 9, 1926 in Lula, Okla. to Johnny Garrett Sr. and Gladys Velma (Reed) Harden. He married Ethel Velma Baker on Oct. 5, 1950 in San Bernadino, Calif. He served in the United States Air Force and was employed for 33 years with the Velma-Alma Public Schools in maintenance, retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Velma, of the home; one daughter, Barbara Ann Shahan, Duncan; three sons, Bill Harden, Duncan, Jim Kirby, Barstow, Calif., and Craig Dewayne Harden, Buford, Ga.; two brothers, Sable Harden and James Harden, both of Sulphur; seven grandchildrenand nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Johnny Garrett Harden Jr. and a grandchild.
