All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Marlow Cemetery--Marlow OK Marlow Review 25 Aug 2005 Jerry Joe Hornbuckle Jerry Joe Hornbuckle, 71, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are planned for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan, with Leonard Keele officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway- Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. Born Aug. 24, 1933, in Heavener to William Iva and Amy Jane (Ritter) Hornbuckle, he attended Heavener High School. He worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1961 to 1963, then for the Rock Island Railroad from 1963 until his retirement in 1982. Jerry was the owner and operator of Hornbuckle Nursery from 1976 to 1992, and later established Marlow Rock, operating this business from 2001 to 2002. He married the former Sharon Wise on July 9, 1956, in Heavener. They had just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Jerry served with the United States Navy from December 1950 to the summer of 1953, then with the U. S. Air Force from 1953 to 1961. He was a member of the Marlow Lions Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his new great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daryl Scott Hornbuckle, in 1976; five brothers, Ralph Austin Hornbuckle, Ewell Layfette Hornbuckle, Billy Dean Hornbuckle, Fred Hornbuckle and Charley Pat Hornbuckle; and two sisters, Clema Maye Grubbs and Betty Jean Kelly. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home; two daughters, Julie Renee Hornbuckle of Marlow, and Lisha Collins and husband Raymond of Marlow; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, William Raymond Hornbuckle of Norman and Earl Rex Hornbuckle of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Kathleen Simmons of Heavener; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Stan Rice, Robert Garrison, Jimmy Pryor, Robert Kizarr, Jim Spurlock and Raul Lopez. Grandsons are honorary pallbearers.
