Billy D. Johnson of Duncan (Stephens Co.) born Sept. 7, 1954 in Dallas TX to Bill and Bernice Taylor Johnson, died Jan 11, 2001 in Oklahoma City at the age of 46. He married H. Earleen Wood on Aug. 8, 1994 in Duncan. He began his career as a police officer with the Duncan Police Dept. in 1981. He became a Sgt. in 1995 and a Lt. Dec. 29, 2000. He became a canine officer in Oct. 1985, worked with police dogs Reuben and Pat and was named K-9 Handler of the Year in 1991 by the United States Police Canine Association. He became DARE certified in 1997. He was a member of the FOP Lodge # 99, The Oklahoma DARE Officers Association, Blue Knights, and the American Red Cross where he was Chapter Chairman of the Red River Chapter and past treasurer. He was a water safety instructor trainer and life guarding instructor trainer. He won the Health and Safety Volunteer of the Year for the state of Oklahoma in 1998. He was a member of the Bethesda Church of God. Survivors include his wife of the home, his father and his wife, Bill and Bonnie Johnson of Allen TX, his children, Alecia Pruitt and her husband Jamie of Waurika and Chris Johnson of Dallas TX, his stepchildren, Ian Avey and Casey Price, both of Duncan, his grandmother, Opal Johnson of Plano TX, three sisters, Kathy Arnold of Dallas, Carol Waggoner of Duncanville TX, and Nancy Sibley of Grand Prairie TX, an adopted brother Ryan Johnson of Allen and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1984. Services were in the Bethesda Church of God in Duncan with Rev. Harold Metheny officiating and retired Chief of Police Dale Anderson assisting. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche. --------------------------------------------------------------------
