All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Cremated Duncan Banner 2 Mar 2003 Leslie Lee Lackey-Swift Leslie Lee Lackey-Swift, 61, of Duncan lost her battle with cancer in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. In keeping with Leslie's wishes Demuth Funeral Home of Oklahoma City will carry out cremation. There will be no services. Leslie was born into the company of a large family on Feb. 9, 1942, at Newman's Hospital in Emporia, Kan. She later moved to Lawton to live with her sister, Clara, where she was a graduate of Lawton High School. Exactly 38 years before her passing, on Feb. 26, Leslie was joined by marriage to Melvin Dale Swift. On March 30, 1971, they adopted a son, Michael. In 1981, Leslie moved with her family to Duncan, where they settled. During her years in Duncan, Leslie was an avid "crafter." She participated in the Arts and Crafts Shows in Duncan and throughout the state. She was an active member of various crafting organizations and derived many hours of pleasure from crafting. One of her greatest accomplishments was her family. A wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend. Leslie will be truly missed as she passes on into the next stage, but she will remain fondly with love in our hearts and memories. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Dale Swift of Duncan; her son, Michael Wayne Swift of Oklahoma City; her son's partner, Eric John Bridges of Oklahoma City; her grandson, Christian Todd Swift of Duncan; sisters, Clara M. Schaefer of Lawton, Dorothy E. Thomas of Hugoton, Kan., and Wilma R. Lind of Kansas City, Kan.; and brothers, Kenneth E. Lackey of Duncan, Leonard L. Lackey of Emporia, and Ronald E. Lackey of Alangan, Mo. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert E. Lackey; her sister, Twila Y. Nelson; and her mother, Doii A. Lackey.
