Curtis F. Ledbetter, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Beams Church, with the Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Duncan City Cemetery, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Daisy was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Velma to Robert Lee and Daisy Pearl Wheeler. She married the Rev. Curtis F. Ledbetter on July 11, 1936, in Waurika. After living in Oklahoma for some time, they moved to Dallas, where she lived as a homemaker for 15 years. In 1952, they moved to Duncan to pastor a small church. As a pastor's wife, she was the first "First Lady" of the Gospel Beams Church, which they built in 1958. Since her father was a minister, Mrs. Ledbetter stepped into this role quite naturally, having been involved in ministry from her childhood. An untiring supporter of her husband, she saw to it that they sounded one voice from the pulpit. She was very influential in the growth of the church, which at one time was the largest Pentecostal church in Duncan. Mrs. Ledbetter traveled with her husband to many of the places where he ministered. Her presence and godly example on the mission field will be long remembered, especially on the Pacific Island of Nauru. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marian Cheree' and Glen Headley of Wilson; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter and Dianna Ledbetter of Marlow; her grandchildren, G. Ray Headley II of Prague, Rene Lee of the home in Wilson, Jonathon Ledbetter of Norman, Joel Ledbetter and Cari Noel Ledbetter of Marlow, Lisa Lovett of Kentucky, Disa Powell of Maryland; six great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Bearers will be Jon and Joel Ledbetter, Ray and Glen Headley, Steve Sanders and Don Nesbitt. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Stephens County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/stephens/stephens.htm
