All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 15 Jan 2003 Doris "Lucille" Lettermon MARLOW - Service for Doris "Lucille" Lettermon, 89, of Marlow, who died today in Marlow, is pending with Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow. ========= Duncan Banner 16 Jan 2003 MARLOW - Doris Lucille Elliott Lettermon was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Marlow, to Lottie M. Jermaine Elliott and Carsie Emmitt Elliott. Her father, Carsie Elliott, was born Feb. 20, 1888, and passed away Oct. 14, 1915, and is buried at Marlow. After the death of her father, Carsie Elliott, her mother, Lottie, married Mont E. Phipps. Her mother, Lottie M. Jermaine Elliott Phipps, was born Nov. 22, 1889, and passed away Sept. 11, 1979. She is also buried at Marlow. Lucille went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1942 in Marlow. She transferred to Oklahoma City around 1962, where she retired in April 1977 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Lucille married William Leo Lettermon, of the home, April 27, 1963, in Madison County, Ark. Lucille never had children of her own, but loved all of the neighborhood children and took care of them. Lucille and Leo lived in Oklahoma City until June of 2000 when they move to Marlow and took up residence at West Wind Assisted Living Center. Lucille's health failed and it was necessary to move her to Gregston's Nursing Home in Marlow. Lucille passed away Jan. 15, 2003, at 5:02 a.m. and will be missed by her family and friends. Lucille's brother, George Arley Elliott was born Nov. 14, 1909, and died April 24, 1992. He is buried at Marlow. George and his wife had three children; Gail, Linda and Georgia. Lucille has two sisters still living at Marlow, Jessie Mae Elliott Jones and Mary Ruth Phipps Shaw. Jessie Mae and her husband had three children; Jimmy Jones, Loretta Jones Bandy and Gerald LaRolf Jones. Gerald Jones passed away May 31, 2001. Mary Ruth and her husband had one daughter, Susan Shaw. Lucille had one stepdaughter, Ginger Doreen Lettermon, and one stepson, Max Lettermon, and his wife, Nancy. She had several step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Lucille will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marlow with the Rev. LaRoyce Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway- Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
