All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Merced Sun Star Merced CA 25 April 2005 Lonnie Lanning September 20, 1918 April 20, 2005 Mr. Lonnie Lanning, born on September 20, 1918 in Marlow, Oklahoma, passed away on April 20, 2005 in Modesto, California at the age of 86 years. Mr. Lanning served his country as a Seabee during World War II. After his military service, he became a carpenter and subsequently retired, with his last employer being Imberri Construction in Merced. Mr. Lanning was a member of Carpenters Union of Manteca, a member of Merced Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1240 and a member of Odd Fellows Lodge of Merced. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Merced. Mr. Lanning was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard Washburn and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Opal E. Lanning of Modesto; children, Fran Curtis of Phoenix, Arizona, Bob Lanning of Reno, Nevada and Doris Kay Washburn of Modesto; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Merced District Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Avenue Modesto, California.
