Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home with the Rev. J. R. Earls and the Rev. John Dyer officiating. Burial will be held in the Fletcher Cemetery. Born July 24, 1912, to Henry and Hattie (Harris) Durland in Saskatchewan, Canada, she worked at Ft. Sill in the housekeeping department for six years and was a former teacher. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of Hope Community Church, OHCE, helped organize Hope FCE and a lifetime member of the Marlow VFW Auxiliary. On August 21, 1929, she married Byrl Brooks in Lawton, he preceded her in death on April 23, 1947. She then married Gilbert H. Lawrence on September 14, 1957 in Wichita Falls, he preceded her in death on June 12, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law James and Bernadine Brooks of Port Townsend, WA, Frank and Joanne Brooks of Marlow, Henry and Louise Brooks of Rochester, WA and Tommy Brooks of Mesa, AZ; a daughter Corene Markham of Olympia, WA; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a step-son James Lawrence and wife Norma of Watertown, NY; four step grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother Glenn Terrell of Locust Grove; and a sister Helen Nicholls of Norman. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Waggoner; Steven Brooks; Mike Brooks; Christopher Brooks; Bill Brooks; and Jack Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Gibbs; Sonny Terrel; Raymond Beck; and Raymond Smith.
