Graveside services were in the Stewart Cemetery with Rev. Steve Henderson officiating. She married Jim Allen in 1922. During the Second World War she was employed by Douglas Aircraft and also worked at Tinker Air Force Base. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1940. Funeral services were held in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. B., born Oct. 21 1923 in Duncan Ok to Jim Tinkle and Elsie Ray Allen, died March 7 1999 in his home. He married Evelyn Asmus on Nov. 16 1946 in New Haven Conn. He was a retired postal employee. He served in the 2nd World War with the 189 1st Ava Engineers in China, Burma, and the Indian Theater He was a member of the Liberty Church where he was a trustee and chairman of the servant committee. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, William Lee Allen. Funeral Services were in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan with the Rev. Gene Vernon officiating. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War Two, a retired truck driver and he was a Baptist. He had lived in Arkansas 23 years. Graveside services were held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche with Joe Ligon Officiating. She married W.A. Barnett on Oct. 31 1924 in Hastings. She was an active member of the Velma Senior Citizens Group and member of the Velma Baptist Church She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 20 1963, her parents, a son, Burney Ray Barnett in 1928, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held in the Velma Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Robbins officiating and Rev. Brad Reimer assisting. Burial was in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home of Duncan. ======================================================================== BLANCO, Ramon G., born Dec. 10 1932 in Cuba to Carlos Manuel Blanco-Mas and Teresita Blace, died March 5 1999 in Duncan Regional Hospital. He married Ninfa Alvarex Sharp on Dec. 22 1989 in Duncan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Healton. He graduated from the University of Havanna medical school and came to the United States. He graduated from medical school at the University of Miami and was in practice in Cuba when Castro came to power. He resisted the communist and was arrested and placed in a work camp for seven years. He escaped with the help of an agent whom he had treated and saved his life. The agent help him obtain a flight to Spain where he stayed for a year. He then obtained a position with the Veterans Hospital in Sulphur. Memorial services were held in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan with Rev. L.B. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves, was owner of Jerry's Tree Service in Comanche and attended the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche. Funeral services were held in the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan with Rev. Grady McCord officiating. O. and Bessie Doss Campbell, died March 9 1999 at his home in Duncan. He married Mary "Babe" Alexander on Sept. 15 1946 in Burkburnett TX. After her death on March 18 1989, he married Evelyn Walker on April 15 1991. He served in the Second World War in the U.S. Army in the Burma Theater, being discharged as a captain. He was a member of the BPOE, a charter member of the Elks Golf and Country Club, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the India Shrine in Oklahoma City and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Duncan. He owned and operated Campbell Auto Supply in Burkburnett TX until moving to Marlow in 1956 where he owned Carl Campbell Chevrolet Co. He purchased the Cheverolet dealership in Duncan in 1961 and operated it until his retirement in 1983. Funeral services were held in the First United Church with Rev. Elton Moelling officiating. She was bookkeeper, buyer and sale- person for Callaway Furniture Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marlow. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 26 1976. Funeral services were held in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Nease officiating and Rev. George Gilland assisting. Press Mahaffey presented the eulogy. She graduated from Marlow High School. She married George Thomas Carter, Sr. in July of 1938. She worked in a nursing home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlow. She was preceded in death by her husband March 11 1979, one brother, Johnny E. Knight, and two sisters, Joann Wilder and Joy Bell Strong. She married Woodrow Coates on Nov. 6 1936 in Walters and was a resident of Duncan 60 years. Orphaned at the age of 2, she attended numerous schools, accelerated in her studies and graduated valedictorian of her class at the age of 16. She was very active in her church activities, including Nursery and Sunday school classes. She directed church youth programs and was a counselor at youth summer camps. she helped sponsor numerous school functions and was involved as Girl Scott Leader and Den Mother, a Rainbow Mother and a member of the Eastern Star, she was a member of the Art guild. She was employed in several businesses in Duncan and was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Organization. She was a member of the Westside Christian Church . Funeral services were held in the Westside Christian Church in Duncan with Rev. Jerry Black officiating. He married Mary Oma Bradshaw Sept. 29, 1945 in Duncan. He was a retired oilfield worker, was in the U.S. Army during the Second World War and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He had lived in Lone Grove eight years. Funeral services were in the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home Chapel. She was a graduate of Chickasha High School. She Married Frank Edward Davis on Nov. 28 1942 in Chickasha. She was a resident of Marlow for 46 years. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, a charter member of the Friends of the Library and a member of the Bridge Club and Garden Club in Marlow. She taught oil painting and won several blue ribbons at the Oklahoma State Fair. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Marlow. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 5 1998. He married Lela Mac Brown on Oct. 15 1946 in Wichita Falls TX. He served in World War II in Company 117 Infantry Regiment. He was a policeman for the City of Duncan from 1956 to 1981, retiring as captain. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Sheriff and Peace Officers Association of Oklahoma and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an active member of the Unity Baptist Church and accepted Christ in 1987. He was preceded in death by his wife July 17 1988, his parents, a daughter. Lela Christine Dudley, two sisters, Eva Aaron and Rachel Williams, three brothers, Bert Dudley, Frank Dudley, and Matt Dudley. Funeral services were in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. She married Roy L. Woodard in 1925. They lived in Rush Springs, later moving to Duncan where they reared their family. He husband died in 1960. She married Emitt Dunlap in 1964. She attended Gospel Beams Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son O. L. Woodard, a son-in-law Hugh Dixon, and two brothers, Albert Trammell and Joe Trammell. Funeral Services were held at the Bethel Assembly of God Church with Greg Woodard, her grandson, officiating. Burial was in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home of Duncan. ======================================================================== ELY, Addison Van "Doc" of Velma, born Sept., 14 1909 in Major County to James Alexander and Effie Mae Stahl Ely, died March 28 1999 in Oklahoma City. He married Evelyn Monds on Dec. 24 1931. He was saved in a Brush Arbor meeting in the summer of 1937, helped reorganize the Baptist Church and move it to its present location. He and brother Marion, started the Velma Rodeo in conjunction with the Velma Old Timers Picnic in 1931 and continued to be arena director and furnish cattle for more than 40 years. He took up golf in his 60's and played a role in the development of the Wildhorse Golf Course in Velma. He was an honorary coach for the Velma-Alma High School girls basketball team.. In his retirement years he raised long horn cattle and a big garden. Funeral services were in the Velma Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Robbins and Pastor Brad Reimers officiating. Henry Bernard officiating, under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home of Duncan. ======================================================================== FISHER, Arch U., Jr., born Oct. 7 1921 In Miami to Arch U and Rena Reed Fisher, died March 7 1999 in Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Miami High School and NEO Junior College. He married Helen Louise Carrithers on Jan. 4 1942 In Picher. They moved to Duncan in 1952. They owned a Dairy Queen for nine years. He worked for Halliburton, retiring in 1983 after 30 years. He served as an Explorer Air Scout Advisor in Miami and as Explorer Advisor and Cub Scout Pack Leader in Duncan. He was active in the Duncan Literacy Council. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, and United Methodist Men Organizations. He was a veteran of World War 2 and a Navy flight instructor. He and Helen were members of the square dancing and round dancing clubs in Duncan and Lawton. Funeral Services were held in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Deborah Fisher, daughter-in-law of the deceased and Rev. Arden Smith officiating. She and her husband also farmed and ranched in the Comanche and Terral areas, later when both retired they lived in Enid and Mission TX. She was s a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan.
